This former Greyhound bus depot has been lovingly restored and re-purposed as a very fine restaurant in Savannah's historic district. We were unable to secure reservations but were advised to come early for a seat at the main bar. We did just that, and we had an amazing view of the space from the bar. Sam served us incredible cocktails and answered our questions about the space between serving us drinks and plates. Their menu is divided into source categories, and is very well curated and delicious. The corn fritters were amazing, and our dinners were chicken meatballs, smashed potatoes and pork shoulder. We couldn't decide on dessert so we ordered both the butterscotch pudding and the upside-down peach cake. What a great finish to an incredible meal! PS - they also have two rooms for private parties and a second bar toward the front of the space.

I went to the Grey on a Wednesday night for dinner, and everything was great from beginning to end. I started at the front bar while I was waiting for my table, and the bartender was extremely helpful in helping me pick which wine I wanted. I then moved to my table where Bri was my waitress. She was very informative about the menu and aided in my decision. I ordered the pork shoulder and corn fritters. Both were delicious. The atmosphere was intimate with dark lighting, which I enjoyed, but it doesn't work for everyone.

Visited on my recent trip to Savannah, and opted for the Chef's Tasting menu. I have a lactose intolerance, and they did a great job making modifications or offering me an alternate dish. I sat at the counter of this converted old school bus station and received great service. They did a great job to maintain and restore the original look and classic feel of the bus station. The tasting menu started with a " trio of composed cold oysters," featuring fig leaf oil, ginger, serrano collard green, and ostera caviar. The creativity continued with the next two courses. The Baba Ghanoush with smoked carrot was very striking, and while I'm not a big fan of carrots, I enjoyed this dish. The Scallops over squash capponata was also very good. The scallops were perfectly cooked, as expected. The Pot au Feu was the 4th dish. I Googled Pot au Feu, and essentially it mentioned a dish of slowly boiled meat and vegetables, typically served as two courses, with the broth served first. In this case, the beef was very tender, so I'm thinking it was sous vide, which is boiled but sealed in a bag before boiling. The broth was poured over the beef and veggies when it was served to me. The Butterscotch pudding with Chantilly cream was my most anticipated course, and also the most problematic for my lactose intolerance. They offered me sorbet instead, but I wanted to get the full menu experience, so I took a couple of Lact-Aid capsules and allowed myself two small spoonfuls of the dessert, which was amazing as expected. I hated to leave the rest, but it was the responsible call to prevent stomach cramps for the rest of the night. Cool experience, and I'm glad I was able to go. Make reservations early.

We came to Savannah to celebrate our 35th wedding anniversary. My wife was excited to get a reservation at The Grey. We had heard about the restored Greyhound Bus station and the amazing chef. The entire experience was better than we expected. From the valet parking to the meringue wishbone and after dinner drinks. Cocktails at the bar set the mood for the evening. We had a great table under the skylight in the main dining room. Our server Maya was personable and answered all of our questions about the menu. The service was first rate and our meal was incredible. We even made new friends with the couple next to us celebrating their 45th anniversary. Our only regret is that we live 4 hours from Savannah.

We are visiting from out of town for my birthday and I knew we had to have dinner at The Grey. The food was simply amazing and the service was incredible. Jack and Hunter took great care of us. We arrived early so of course had to visit the bar - the bar alone is worth the trip!! The refurbished bus station and art deco touches make for a charming ambiance. You must visit. Go to The Grey right away.

Apparently, this restaurant used to be a Greyhound station. I never had a good experience riding the Greyhound, but I sure did dining at The Grey. Be warned though, the only way to get guaranteed seating here is that you need a reservation. We came to Savannah on a weekend and they were booked for both Saturday and Sunday. They do have a separate area with bar seating and 4 booths, but they are first come first serve. We came at 5:45PM and it was already near peak crowd time. We were in a party of three, but I think it's not too hard to get a bar seating for 2 since they were available every half an hour or so. However, we opted to wait for a booth since we didn't want anyone in our group be standing. We probably waited a little over an hour for a booth seat. The wait was definitely worth it! We got the 38-oz dry aged (28 days) prime ribeye cooked to medium rare. First bite was bless and it was probably one of the best steaks I've ever had. I wish our steak had less fat, which is the reason for the 4-star, but overall it was spot on. The rib came out to be $152 and it was perfectly enough for 3 people. We ordered a salad too to cleanse out our arteries from the rib. Service was on point despite how busy that evening was. However, I do wish that the music is a little bit softer. My friend got a sore throat the next day since she probably had to talk over the speaker the entire evening. Overall, this is a very solid restaurant. But if you are planning to visit Savannah on a weekend, be sure to book a reservation in advance. If you chose to do the bar/booth seating like us, you will only get the bar menu. We barely tapped the potential for this restaurant as I'm sure their full dining menu is phenomenal.

The Grey is one of the best restaurants I've ever eaten at, and I've eaten at A LOT of restaurants, my friends. I'm so glad that we were able to dine at The Grey during my too-short of a visit in Savannah. This is one of the best restaurants in Savannah, the south and the U.S. Eat here! After booking a trip to Savannah, I tried to book a reservation for The Grey, which was very difficult, so had no such luck. So when we arrived to Savannah on Friday, we came right at opening, hoping to at least sit in the bar. However, we learned from the staff that the bar was closed that night for a private event. Therefore, we asked about any openings at all for the weekend, and they were able to book us for a reservation on Sunday right at opening. SOLD. We arrived on Sunday at opening for dinner service and were immediately seated for our reservation. First of all, the restaurant is in an old Greyhound bus depot, so you can see much of this reflected in the restaurant today. Absolutely stunning. Where people would've purchased their bus tickets is a window into the kitchen. Love this! And all of the art deco vibes here. Ambiance takes you back in time. Jordan was our server for the night and he was super friendly and hospitable. He made recommendations for us and was knowledgeable about the menu. Service was phenomenal. It's fine dining, but it doesn't feel stuffy or snooty at all. For the three of us, we started with cocktails and shared all the food. Nothing was short of perfect. Everything was absolutely delicious. We ordered the lamb and beef tartare, red rice balls, fried pumpkin, turnip cakes, whole grilled market fish and beef short ribs. I can't even pick a favorite because it was all delightful. Anything you order here will be amazing. They do offer a prix fixe menu that is a limited quantity. Although we didn't get dessert, we had complimentary ice pops, an homage to head chef Mashama Bailey's childhood and the perfect way to end a meal at The Grey. I would only be so lucky to eat at The Grey again whenever I'm back in Savannah. This was truly a wonderful meal and experience of elevated, local, southern food in a city that I've recently discovered and love.
